Test My Breasts Awareness Campaign

This campaign is designed to reach women from all segments of the Washington, DC Metropolitan population. Our goal is to develop a message that speaks to women of color on the importance of healthy living and to take the message of sisterhood, togetherness, and early detection into targeted communities. Target audience - Over 250, 000 women of color in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.

Educational Workshops

Minority women in the United States continue to bear a greater cancer burden than white women. Much of this difference is due to the lack of access to information. Our quarterly symposiums are designed to educate and empower women of color about the bare facts of healthy breast care and the breast cancer disease. We welcome industry leading doctors who provide up-to-date information and interactive activities that guide us into living a healthier, cancer-free life. Upcoming seminars are scheduled for February, May, and August 2018.

Breast Care Continuum Support

With the number of cases of breast cancer growing each day, industry researchers have identified patient navigating as the most crucial role in assisting women who have an abnormal examination or a positive finding.  NWBCF provides one-on-one support as they manage their breast health.  Women who receive a negative or normal test will be scheduled for an annual breast examination and introduced to healthy breast activities e.g. healthy eating class, exercising, and self-breast exam education sessions.  Women who receive an abnormal or positive reading will have the support of our team members to walk them through each step along the breast cancer journey.

Operation Love

Operation Love is in one word - Caring! This initiative is designed to uplift women who are actively in chemotherapy or radiation treatment during the Christmas and holiday season. We identify women who are being cared for at area hospitals, as well as through local churches and breast cancer support groups in the vicinity/region.  Our signature gift baskets come with beautiful hand-made flowers, inspirational note cards, soothing lotions and oils, and a small personalized gift as a reflection of our sisterly support, compassion and love.
